this year, Time selected a very interesting individual to be person of the year. they selected 26-year-old street vendor Mohamed Bouazizi from Tunisia, who set himself on fire in defiance and protest of all the events going on in his country he believed were wrong and were keeping his country from truly listening to its people. from his act, a country rose up and kept the fire going that Mohamed had started, which then spread through the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
the affect his act has had on others did not stop in this part of the world but spread to European countries and the US in the shape of “Occupy Wall Street”, or even in my hometown’s version, “Occupy Norman”.
2011 has undoubtedly been the year of awakening. now we need 2012 to be the year of positive action and the year that people took back their lives and the welfare of their families and countries. i think everyone should read this Time article.
