Stromma Archipelago Tour

The beauty of nature. I could have taken so many more photos but I was caught up by the beauty of nature and sipping on my glogg. Supposedly one of these homes was the former vacation home of tennis player/underwear businessman Bjorn Borg.

Nordiska museet is a cultural museum in Stockholm. As I was going up to the stairs to the second floor I saw that the Knitta Mafia had attacked! The interior of this museum is extremely beautiful and the exhibits were fun. From September to May the museum is free for all on Wednesdays from 5-8pm. Since Stockholm is expensive, especially museum entrance fees, it is worth going in the evening to visit.

City by the dark

December 2012/January 2013 Stockholm Sweden

Gamla Stan, Stockholm, Sweden

On our second part of visiting Scandinavia we went to Stockholm, Sweden. While there, one of my husband’s friends from Stockholm took us out for a walk around the oldest part of Stockholm, Gamla Stan. We also went out for dinner and drinks and had the best tasting reindeer at Marten Trotzig. Later during our visit we went back to Gamla Stan and took a Ghost Tour, which was funny, informative and spooky. There is also a very cool restaurant/bar that looks like an old viking bar, Aifur Restaurang. The employees all dress like vikings, some of the beers are written in rune script and the music sets the mood. I wish I had pictures of this bar but since it is only lit with candles, it was a little difficult to produce clear photos.

City of Harbin

Harbin Ice Festival

January 2013 Harbin, China

i recently went on a weekend trip to Harbin, China for Snow and Ice Festivals  哈尔滨国际冰雪节 and had so much fun. it was truly a tremendous and fantastic weekend. i was amazed by the talent and creativity of the snow sculptures and taken to another world by the ice castles in the evening. my favorite part was when i tubed down a snow castle; the thrill of it was worth the wait in the line.

Harbin also has an interesting history of Jewish-Russians who immigrated to China during the 1880-1920s during the mass emigration. much of their influence on this city city can still be seen in the architecture, restaurants, the names of the streets are in Chinese, Pinyin and Russian and there is a synogogue converted into a museum dedicated to their time spent in Harbin, the Harbin Jewish History and Cultural Exhibition.

this is a city worth visiting during its winter festivities. its beauty is beyond belief.

you want me to go out and have lunch with you in this weather?! it looks like it is more time for dinner than lunch. it is better to sit at home and have Malaysian chicken curry while watching Piers Morgan.
